General Info

Lesvos is set on the north ??? eastern part of the Aegean, right before the entranceway of the Adramyti Gulf, near the Minor ??? Asian coast. Third in size in Greece, after Crete and Euboea, Lesvos covers a surface of 1630 square kilometres, with a coastal longitude of 370 kl. Along with Lemnos and St Efstratios, Lesvos constitutes a prefecture. Capital city of both the island and the prefecture is Mytilene. Various low hills along with high mountains draw the anaglyph of the island: Lepetymnos (968 m.) lies on the north part and Olympos (967 m.) on the south, while the centre of the island is run through by a great plain. Petrified trunks dating back to the Tertiary period form the large Petrified Forest in Sigri. The island also offers spring waters, with those in Thermi, the Gulf of Gera, Polichnitos, Lisbori and Eftalou being its most significant representatives
