Municipality of Plomari

Plomari is the capital of the homonymous municipality, which comprises seven villages: Akrasi, Ambeliko, Megalohori, Neohori, Palaiohori, Plagia and Trygonas.
Plomari combines the past with the present. Evidence of the great flourish that the town achieved during the last century is the abandoned oil-presses, the soap factories, the mansions with the peculiar architecture and the imposing churches. Two noteworthy churches in the village are Agia Paraskevi, with its marble iconostasis and Profitis Ilias at the highest point of the village. Famous for its special flavor is the ouzo of Plomari. It is worth visiting the distilleries of Arvanitis, Giannatsis, Pitsiladis and the Museum of the oldest distillery Varvagiannis. Agios Isidoros is a seaside summer resort, two kilometers far from Plomari and has been voted as the seventh best beach of Greece. Two other beautiful beaches are Melinda and Drota. In Plomari there are fully equipped hotels, tourist offices, shops, entertainment halls, refreshment bars. The Festival of Ouzo and the Navy Week are two of the various cultural events that take place at the region of Plomari during the summer
