Motovun Film Festival 25-29 July: The Woodstock Of Film

The incredibly popular international Motovun Film Festival will be taking place this year from 25th to 29th of July at the medieval Istrian town of Motovun.

This will be Motovun’s 18th edition. Originally imagined as a small festival, Motovun’s original concept soon started attracting dozens of thousands of visitors. The Motovun Film Festival is dedicated to films made in small studios and independent film productions, and it takes great pride in its informal character where prominent filmmakers sit together with the audience.

The festival is particularly popular with young film enthusiasts. They set up a camp at the foothills of Motovun, which became the hallmark of the festival. In fact, it made the British newspaper The Guardian call Motovun Film Festival a cross between Glastonbury and Sundance.

This year several fantastic European films will be competing for the esteemed Motovun Propeller Award for the best film. In addition to film screenings taking place on several locations in Motovun – one of them being the town’s main medieval square, the festival will be offering a wide variety of true film treats.
