Near Mytilene, inside the olive grove in Vareia where Stratis Eleftheriades the inspired publisher was born, lies the Teriade Modern Art Museum. Teriade has been the first to publish art books containing famous paintings of the best artists of the 20th century. The museum houses rare publications, as well as some original art works. This is an extremely important collection that includes works of Chagall, Giacometti, Lecorbusier, Leger, Matisse, Miro, Picasso, Tsarouches and others. The humble building situated next to the Museum houses the Museum of Theophilos. The works of the Lesvian folk artist inspired by mythology, history and nature are well known for their impulsiveness, expressiveness and richness of colours. Nevertheless, it was only after his death that the painter enjoyed the recognition he deserved

Opposite the castle lies the Ancient Theatre, one of the largest theatres with a capacity of 15000 people, renowned for its acoustic system
